Examination Board: OCR Level 3 Alternative Academic Qualification Cambridge Advanced National
The Cambridge Advanced National in Health and Social Care will provide you with an up to date and relevant insight into the world of Health and Social Care.
This qualification is an Alternative Academic level 3 Qualification that is the same size as an A Level. Through a combination of theoretical study and hands-on experience, you will develop the necessary knowledge and skills required to work in this sector.
The Cambridge Technical Extended Certificate in Health and Social Care is made up of 4 compulsory units:
- Unit FO90 – Principles of health and social care
- Unit FO91 - Anatomy and physiology for health and social care
- Unit FO92 - Person-centred approach to care
- Unit FO93 - Supporting people with mental health condition
Plus a choice of two optional units, from:
- Unit FO94 - Supporting people with long term physiological conditions
- Unit FO95 - Investigating public health
- Unit FO96 - Supporting people in relation to sexual health, pregnancy and postnatal health
- Unit FO97 - Supporting healthy nutrition and lifestyles
The course comprises of both examined and practical, coursework-based assessments.
To be awarded the extended certificate qualification, students must complete six units:
- Two externally assessed unit (Units FO90 and F091)
- Two compulsory NEA units (Units FO92 and FO93)
- Two optional NEA units (Units FO94 - 97)
In the examined units, you will study key knowledge and understanding relevant to health and social care. In the non-examined assessment (NEA) units, you will demonstrate knowledge and skills you learn by completing applied or practical assignments.
This qualification will equip you with the in-demand skills sought after by healthcare and social care employers and opens doors to a variety of fulfilling roles in this sector. For example, nursing, midwifery, paramedic, youth work, speech and language therapy, primary teaching, social and community work, counselling or any other health related employment.
