We're very pleased to share this poem by Ron, one of our two Poet Laureates, who wrote this poem for Remembrance Day.
A crimson poppy
Black in the centre
Green stalks
With leaves so tender
History's never ender
A poppy to say
For lives so lost
On endless days
Those graves with moss
Hold your mind
Don’t let it forget
Rain of all kinds
Boots so wet
Heads so fallen
Hearts in the wind
Spoons scrape the bottom
Of empty tins
Two minutes to think
Let the thought sink
As we pour out a drink
For those lives lost on the brink
Remember to care
A poppy you should wear
Donate to the trust
Any remembrance is enough.
