"On Friday 2nd February 40 of our KS4 and 5 Drama and Music students set off on our annual London Theatre Trip.
Their first stop on Friday afternoon was a tour of Theatre Royal Drury Lane, the world’s oldest theatre in continuous use, offering students a rare glimpse of the workings of a theatre and its rich history. From there they travelled to Base Dance Studios in South London for a stage combat workshop where they learned a range of exciting new moves. Thankfully no students or staff were harmed, although you might be fooled after looking at the photos! We were also very lucky to have a Q&A session with a member of the cast of Hamilton who was appearing in the performance we saw later that evening at the Victoria Palace Theatre.
After an early breakfast at the hotel, we set off for a tour of Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre. Many of our students are performing in Measure for Measure at the Carriageworks Theatre in March and it was fascinating to see the stage and feel what it must have been like to be in the audience. A quick shopping trip around Covent Garden before watching the very funny Lee Mack in Unfriend at the Wyndham Theatre rounded off a very enjoyable and fun two days." - Anne Dunkerley, Curriculum Lead for Drama
We are happy to see you all had such a wonderful time, this was a fantastic opportunity for our students to explore the things they have been studying in the classroom, in real life. Roll on next year's trip!
