In a brilliant start to the new school year, all of us at Guiseley School are thrilled to announce we have achieved the Secondary Geography Quality Mark.
The Secondary Geography Quality Mark is a prestigious award that recognises quality geography leadership, curriculum development and teaching and learning in Guiseley School. We are incredibly proud to be one of only 12 schools in the country to receive this award of quality from the Geographical Association in 2023.
The award reflects the depth and breadth of the curriculum we have developed here, and the opportunities we offer to our geography students. It also validates the work we have been doing to ensure that the quality of our teaching in geography is consistently strong and it provides a springboard into further excellence both inside and outside of the classroom.
Mr Paul Clayton, Headteacher, gave this statement once he received the news: "The nationally recognised quality mark in geography is a fantastic achievement for the department and the school. It not only recognises the quality of the curriculum, teaching and variety of experiences our students encounter, but it is also a recognition of how our students have engaged with the subject. It is a wonderful achievement and I am excited to see the next phase of development for geography at Guiseley School.”
