On the 14th November, we held our Divertimento Concert in the Guiseley School Auditorium.
The show, hosted by the indomitable Sam Winterburn and filled with terrible jokes written on cue cards, was undoubtedly a hit. Every seat was filled and our musicians put on a show to remember.
With a brilliant selection of performances from Wind Band, the Year 7 Choir as well as many duets and soloists the evening flew by. Our Guiseley School Jazz Band finished out the night, which has been managed independently by our Sixth Form musicians. They took ownership of the ensemble, its rehearsal schedule and the final performance. Their attitude is a real credit to the department, and they have understood and displayed exactly what it means to be Guiseley.
Mr Stote, Head of Music, had this to say: "It's a pleasure to work alongside such talented and dedicated performers. To be able to put on a concert so soon into the academic year speaks volumes of the talent and confidence from our young musicians. I'm so proud of every single student involved."
The event was supported by Mr Dowell and his student technicians, who created wonderful atmospheric lighting as well as managing the delicate sound work for our performers. We want to reiterate how proud we are of our musicians, and all their hard work to be able to put on amazing shows like this for the community to enjoy.
If you missed this concert, have no fear! We have our Battle of the Bands on the 23rd of November, and you can get tickets through ParentPay.
