Children in Need

Published 24/11/2021

For this year’s Children in Need campaign, Guiseley School Sixth Form held a Bake-off - always a popular event in our school. From 15 entries, the hard task of selecting a winner fell to Miss Hinckley, Miss Broughton and Mr Gadd.

All the cakes were to a high standard in both taste and appearance. After much deliberation and plenty of sampling, Izzie from Year 13 was selected as winner for her chocolate orange cake. Following close in second and third place was Grace (Year 13) for her Cookie Monster cake, and Corey (Year 12) for her cookies and creme cake.

Following the competition, a raffle was held for the cakes which raised over £350. Of the 15 cakes available, one student was lucky enough to win two!

Miss Broughton said;

'IT WAS A FABULOUS MORNING TO CELEBRATE THE HARD WORK AND EFFORT OF THE SIXTH FORM COMING TOGETHER TO RAISE MONEY FOR CHARITY. I ABSOLUTELY LOVED GRACE L’S COOKIE MONSTER CAKE, BUT FOR ME GRACE M’S LEMON AND CARDAMON CAKE NEEDS CELEBRATING AS YOU SHOULD NEVER JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER.'
