At Guiseley School, there is a high priority for Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural (SMSC) provision in the life of the school. We recognise that the personal development of students, spiritually, morally, socially and culturally, plays a significant part in their ability to learn and achieve. We aim to offer an education that provides students with opportunities to explore and develop their own values and beliefs, spiritual awareness, high standards of personal behaviour and a positive, caring attitude towards others.
We aim to help them achieve an understanding of social and cultural traditions and an appreciation of the diversity and richness of their cultures. We have a coherent approach to promoting SMSC values through PSHE lessons in Years 7-13. We are proud of the opportunities we have created for students which encourage them to take part in a range of faith, technological, artistic, cultural, sporting, dramatic, musical, scientific, and international events and activities.
At Guiseley School, we understand the importance of developing students understanding of the fundamental British Values. These include democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.
