The school receives funding to provide support to those Sixth Formers who are facing financial difficulties in continuing their learning. Please read the letter to students about the 16 to 19 bursary (you can see this by clicking on the link below) and consider whether this applies to you. Further information can be found in the policy document. If you are in doubt or have any queries about the bursary, then please go and have a chat with Mrs Beaton (our Director of Administration and Finance) or Mr Gadd (Post-16 Director). Help and support is available so please do not miss out on this opportunity.

The bursary fund offers two types of support:

1. VULNERABLE BURSARY

£1,200 PER ANNUM IS AVAILABLE TO STUDENTS WHO ARE:

  • in care
  • care leavers
  • getting Income Support (IS) or Universal Credit (UC) in place of Income Support in their own right
  • getting Employment Support Allowance (ESA) and Disability Living Allowance (DLA) or Personal Independence Payments in their own right

2. DISCRETIONARY BURSARY

Students with a household income of less than £26,100 per annum are eligible to apply to the ‘Discretionary Fund’.

DISTRIBUTION OF THE DISCRETIONARY FUND

Bursaries under this heading may be awarded on an identified need and at the discretion of Guiseley School. They can be for varying amounts and are targeted on overcoming the individual barriers a student faces to remain in education. This includes payments for things like transport, meals, books, and equipment, which can be expensive in the Sixth Form so we encourage students to apply for funding, should they meet the criteria. Funding is also available to support the Sixth Form dress code.
