16 to 19 Bursary

The school receives funding to provide support to those sixth formers who are facing financial difficulties in continuing their learning. Please read the policy information posted on the school’s website carefully and consider whether this applies to you.

Help and support is available so please do not miss out on this opportunity.

The bursary fund offers two types of support:

1. VULNERABLE BURSARY

£1,200 PER ANNUM IS AVAILABLE TO STUDENTS WHO ARE:

  • in care
  • care leavers
  • getting Income Support (IS) or Universal Credit (UC) in place of Income Support in their own right
  • getting Employment Support Allowance (ESA) and Disability Living Allowance (DLA) or Personal Independence Payments in their own right

2. DISCRETIONARY BURSARY

Students with a household income of less than £26,100 per annum are eligible to apply to the ‘Discretionary Fund’.

DISTRIBUTION OF THE DISCRETIONARY FUND
Bursaries under this heading may be awarded on an identified need and at the discretion of Guiseley School. They can be for varied amounts and are targeted on overcoming the individual barriers a student faces to remain in education. This includes payments for things like transport, meals, books and equipment, which can be expensive in the Sixth Form so we encourage students to apply for funding, should they meet the criteria. Funding is also available to support the Sixth Form dress code.
