Pupil Premium Information
All schools receive extra funding from the government to help certain groups of children do as well as they should in school.
There are three types of funding:
- Pupil Premium
- Pupil Premium Plus
- Service Premium
Is my child included in the main Pupil Premium cohort?
There are two factors which will determine this:
- Free School Meals. If your child has received free school meals at any time from May 2014 to the current date then they will be included in the Pupil Premium cohort.
- Children adopted from care or who have left care. This applies if your child was looked after by an English (or Welsh) local authority immediately before being adopted, or they left local authority care on a special guardianship order or child arrangements order (previously known as a residence order).
Benefits of Being in the Pupil Premium Cohort
This means that your child will receive financial support for some school resources and uniform, where needed.
- Pupil Premium Plus. This funding is made available for children in the care of the local authority i.e. living with foster carers or in residential children’s homes.
- Service Premium. Children whose parents serve or have served in the armed forces at any time from January 2015 to the current date are eligible for the service child premium. The purpose of the Service Pupil Premium is to enable School to offer mainly pastoral support during challenging times and to help mitigate the negative impact on service children of family mobility or parental deployment. Mobility is when a service family is posted from one location to another, including overseas and within the UK. Deployment is when a service person is serving away from home for a period of time. This could be a 6 to 9-month tour of duty, a training course or an exercise which could last for a few weeks.
Information You Need to Pass onto School
We recognise that for some of these groups the information is very confidential. We, therefore, invite parents, carers and guardians to contact us in the strictest confidence if they believe their child is eligible under the adoption criteria; or if you have served in the Armed Forces, and have not notified us, please let us know.
(You do not need to let us know if you currently receive Free School Meals or have done so in the past).
Please submit the information for the attention of Catherine Beaton, Director of Administration and Finance. Mrs Beaton may be contacted by phoning the school office on 01943 872315 or by emailing [email protected]
