At Guiseley School, we have a strong commitment to the arts as an Artsmark school. We’re pleased to introduce Guiseley student, Thomas, who has a flair for drama and was recently filmed for a small speaking role in a BBC drama.

As a member of an after school drama club in Year 4 at St Oswald’s, and following a performance at Yeadon Town Hall, Thomas found a passion for acting and dancing and decided that he would like to do more. From there he became a member of the Starlight Dance Academy in Guiseley at the age of 10, gradually picking up more and more classes over the next couple of years including showstars, drama, singing, tap, ballet, modern, street dance, and more. By 12 Thomas found himself travelling to dance competitions with Starlight, achieving some medals for his ‘song and dance’ and ‘tap’ routines, and he performed with the dance school in both London and Blackpool. Thomas moved on to performing in local shows at Yeadon Town Hall – Futurist Theatre Company’s ‘Christmas Spectacular’ in 2019, and Yeadon Charities Association’s ‘Cinderella’ Pantomime at the start of 2020.

With lockdowns bringing performance opportunities to an end for a while, Thomas nonetheless carried on enthusiastically with Starlight’s online lessons and also used the time at home to learn to play the drums, as well as taking up drama lessons with a local drama school, ‘Articulate’. Through this he was presented with an opportunity to submit a video audition for a small speaking role in a BBC drama, We look forward to seeing Thomas on our screens very soon.

Thomas is very much looking forward to getting back on stage this summer, when he is performing in Futurist’s ‘A Night at the Musicals’ in July.
