Guiseley School Sixth Form student Lulu is currently working towards her Silver Duke of Edinburgh Award and has found volunteering in her local community very rewarding.

"What I've loved most about the scheme is volunteering. For the Bronze Award, I signed up to volunteer at a local Parkrun event, which I found really fun and I met some lovely other volunteers who became good friends. I actually continued this volunteering beyond the DofE requirements and I can't wait to go back when restrictions are lifted," says Lulu.

"The DofE scheme gave me the opportunity to develop skills and interests, spend lots of time with my friends on the expedition, and also meet new people."

We are really pleased that Lulu is enjoying working towards her Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and are proud to see Sixth Formers setting such great examples to younger students, as well as taking an active role in their local community.
