School Makes Protective Masks for NHS
27 April 2020
Guiseley School Design and Technolgy department has been busy over the past few weeks producing and assembling over 1300 face visors for the NHS (to date). These have been taken to the Leeds General Infirmary and St James's University Hosptial, North Lincolnshire Hospital, Wakefield Hospital, Care Homes for the Elderly in Leeds, several Leeds hospices, a brain injury unit and GP practices for community nurses to wear. North Lincolnshire Hospital has advised that the visors had passed a procurement test and are being used on a COVID19 Ward.
Thank you to all staff who donated their time and expertise, and also to anyone who donated materials, some of which are becoming increasingly more difficult to get hold of. Staff will continue to manufacture these in school and at home as there are still front line workers who have contacted us and asked for them.
