Since 1986, the UK has celebrated Black History Month during October to acknowledge the history, achievements and contributions of black people. We are lucky to have a previous Black Health Group chairman, George Deane, as a Learning Support Assistant at Guiseley School. He has previously spoken about how Bradford has embraced diversity in the city since they started celebrating Black History Month in 1987. Recently, George was interviewed by BCB radio as part of their show 'Race Matters', looking back over his experiences and thoughts on being a part of the Windrush generation, and regarding Bradford’s involvement with Black History Month from over the past several decades. Listen back to the thought provoking show on the BCB radio site here.
