Home learning is work that is set to be completed outside of the timetabled curriculum. It contains an element of independent study, in that it is not usually directly supervised by a teacher. It is important in raising student achievement.

Home Learning Schedule and Calendar

Below is an example of how the Year 9 -11 home learning schedule works

On a timetable, the format shows the lesson the room and the group e.g. SC7 is the room Science lab 7. The group 11RCG would indicate which teaching group this was. For options subjects, these include a letter to show which option block the subject is in e.g. construction is in option block B (11B highlighted yellow) and in Year 11 option block B has its home-learning set on Tuesday. Geography is in option block A (11A highlighted yellow) and in Year 11 this is also scheduled for Tuesday. Students are in block D or E depending if they are on the Y side of the year group or the R side of the year group in the example shown here Business is in the D block (11D highlighted orange), does not have a lesson on Wednesday which is the day scheduled for home-learning for the D block option. Students will check the VLE for the scheduled home-learning for that week and record it in their planner so that they can complete the scheduled work.
